Lawn Care Technician - Owen Sound, ON

Day in the life of a Weed Man Technician: As a technician responsible for completing a variety of lawn care services, you will be assigned a tablet and a truck with a specific route created for you in your designated home territory. You will load your truck with the appropriate equipment and products necessary for the day to be successful. During the route, you will have many interactions with customers and interested homeowners. You will learn how to “Read the lawn” to determine which services are required to improve the grass's health. You will recommend additional services to our customers to meet their lawn care goals. You will be expected to complete the route in a timely fashion and with precision, focus, and efficiency. We are a team of trained professionals working together towards bonusable goals. Training is provided.

Technician contract from end of March - October

Typical advancement with experience: Senior Lawn Care Worker or Technician Specialist; followed by Production Supervisor Trainee for the right candidate.

Minimum $18/hr guaranteed base with the potential to reach up to $24+/hr with commission and bonuses. We have an excellent compensation structure that rewards reliable quality work and sales.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide basic lawn care services such as but not limited to fertilizer, weed control, aeration, seeding, etc. (We do not do landscaping or mowing/trimming)
• Maintain a Positive attitude with a focus on Customer Service and Quality
• Analyze and provide recommendations to improve the quality of a customer’s lawn
• Complete all electronic posting properly and in a timely manner using a tablet
• Provide exceptional customer service to existing and potential customers
• Maintain the cleanliness and perform light repairs of the assigned truck and equipment
• Maintain a professional personal appearance
• Be comfortable working with lawn care products, training and licensing provided
• Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required to meet the goals of the department

Qualifications:

• Lawn Care, landscape, or pest control experience is highly valued and compensated
• A minimum of 6 months of customer service/general labour/or sales experience required
• Positive attitude with a willingness to learn about grass, lawn care products and services
• Able to lift and carry a 50-pound bag 10 meters as part of the job
• Enjoy physical activity outdoors – 20,000+ steps per day
• Valid G class driver’s licence with a clean driver’s abstract and minimum 3 years driving experience
• Driving/route-based work experience is an asset
• Ability to work in all seasonal weather conditions (rain, heat)
• Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• Time management and organizational skills
• Self Directed and able to work under minimum supervision and follow instructions
• Able to trouble shoot equipment issues and perform repairs with training
• Problem solving and conflict resolution skills
• Able to operate an Android/Smart device
• Ability to work well in a team towards a shared goal
• Leadership skills are an asset

Contract length: 7 ½ Months

Expected start date: Late March 2023
